A selection of Fairtrade chocolates

Although some companies are not fairtrade, let’s focus on the companies who are. Chocolate is a booming industry and Cadbury is starting a new line each, and they are FAIRTRADE! If you choose just a plain, Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate over a fancy caramel bar than you are supporting those farmers who spent all their time labouring over the cocoa trees for your chocolate. Only Cadbury’s Dairy Milk range is Fairtrade so let’s show Cadbury that Fairtrade is the future so that all their products are Fairtrade.

Where does your chocolate come from

Have you ever wondered where your chocolate comes from? It comes from cocoa farmers in poor communities in countries like Ghana. The cocoa farmers only get $10 per bag and that is not a lot. Most of these farmers live below the poverty line and cannot afford to send their children to school or buy the living necessities. The companies like Mars, Hershey’s and Lindt are not Fairtrade therefore do not pay the workers fairly. If you look out for Fairtrade certified products then you are making a difference for those cocoa farmers.

Below is a list of chocolates that are Fairtrade:
